These surnames are for my paternal lines beginning 3rd great grandparents, Samuel R. "Devil Sam" Rich and Mary Bryan Stowers going back to generations 6 or 7 and even 8 generations in some cases, starting with me. Are you related to Daniel Boone? My 8th great grandparents are Squire Maugridge Boone and Sarah Jarman Morgan. Their daughter, Mary Boone Bryan is my 7th great grandmother and her husband was William Christopher Bryan. Which makes Daniel Boone my 8th great granduncle! Are you researching any of these fine early Colonial American names? The surname of Plowden comes from my children's paternal grandmother, Ursula Floride Plowden Kitts. There are still many descendants from these families still living in South Carolina. From my research I have learned that many of these families came to South Carolina from England via the Caribbean Islands. There are several surnames that are also part of my children's French Huguenot history as well.
There are few Plowden men who served in the American Revolution and many more who served in the Civil War for the Confederacy.
If you are researching any of these fine families who came to South Carolina in the hope of starting new lives, please let me know and let's see how we are RELATED!

The surname of Kitts is my children's paternal line. The majority of these families still reside in Grainger, Union and Knox Counties, Tennessee. Some of the older generations started in the counties of Wythe, Bland and Tazewell counties of Virginia.
Many of the Kitts men in Tennessee fought for the Union in the Civil War. However they literally fought against family who served in the Confederate Army from their own home state of Tennessee as well as in Virginia and West Virginia.

Congratulations Jeff and Mario! The Elbert surname is that of my maternal uncle, Jim who is married to my aunt, Bonnie Rueff. Today is a special day in the Elbert family. My cousin Jeff is finally getting to marry the love of his life, Mario. I am very happy for them both and I am looking forward to attending their wedding later today. Cheers!

These are some of
the surnames in my maternal line of Rueff. Many of these families are of German descent. On most of these lines I can only go back a generation, maybe two.
There are questions about my immigrant ancestor, William Rueff as to where exactly he was born. Some say that he was born in Alsace, France, while others say that he was born in Germany or possibly Austria. As I have learned in my research of the Rueff's the boundaries of Germany, France and Austria changed frequently depending on the political climate.
I believe that William Rueff was born between 1775-1790 and that it is quite possible he fought in the Napoleonic Wars. Family lore says that he married a woman named Favalie, unfortunately in 35 years I have never been able to prove this. I do know that he was married and that he had at least one known child, Charles. William and Charles immigrated to the United States between 1820-1830 and then settled in Louisville, Kentucky.

These are some of the surnames in my paternal line of Williams. Some of these families I have done quite a lot of research on but there are others that are brick walls for me.
Some of these surnames go back many generations. Many of my paternal grandmother Peggy Scott Rich, aunts & cousins have used these lines obtain membership into the Daughters of the American Revolution. There women were great record keepers!
If you are researching any of these fine families who started their lives in England and then came to America to settle in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Kentucky, please let me know and let's see if we may be RELATED! Many of these families were Quakers including my Rich line.
On a side note, my 7th great grandmother is Mary Boone and daughter of Squire & Sarah Jarman (Morgan) Boone, making Daniel Boone my 7th great uncle.
