Family Photo Friday ~ Do You See A Resemblance?

Do you see a resemblance in the photographs above? I do but then I am probably biased! The photo on the left is me on my 1st Birthday, July 21, 1963. The photo on the left is my grandson, Easton. I took that picture of him in November or December of last year when he was about 19 or 20 months old.

As an adoptee when my kids were born I had so hoped that one of them would like me. I never saw me in them in their physical looks but their personalities and mannerisms were and are a lot like me. However, when I saw these photographs sided by side I realized I think Easton looks a little like me.

Happy Friday Everyone! I have a dinner date with my favorite little fella and he wants chicken, french fries and a milkshake for his dinner! See you soon Doodlebug!

Family Photo Friday ~ My Dad and My Sister, Susie

The first 2 birthdays of the year in our family are my Dad and my baby sister Susie. So I thought only fitting that the first Family Photo Friday should be this picture. Susie married her husband, Jason on September 18th, 1999. (personal collection).

Christmas Eve 1997 ~ The Williams Grandchildren

This picture was taken at my Mom and Dad's house on Christmas Eve, 1997. My family traditionally does our family Christmas on Christmas Eve, where we exchange our gifts to each other. When my boys were younger they would spend Christmas Day with their Dad. In this picture from left to right are my son Kenny, my nephew TJ, my niece Kaitlyn and my son David.

Family Photo Friday ~ The Children's Mass ~ Christmas Eve 1986

When my sons were younger we went to the Children's Mass on Christmas Eve at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. In this photo right behind the two altar boys is my son Kenny who is carrying baby Jesus so that he could be placed in the manger. My son David is the drummer boy. As you can see, this Mass is standing room only.

Family Photo Friday ~ Family Christmas Pictures c. 1989

Every Christmas as David and Kenny were growing up I tried to make sure we got a family portrait taken. I have two pictures to share this week. The top is just the boys together and I just love the smiles on their faces! The second is the three of us together. When I found these photos recently I realized that I not only see a lot of David in Easton but every once in awhile I see Kenny too.

Family Photo Friday ~ Christmas Pictures ~ David and Kenny

One year for Christmas I gave everyone this picture of David (on the left) and Kenny for Christmas, I think this would be about 1985 or 1986 at the latest.

Family Photo Friday ~ My Wild and Crazy Family!

This is what happens when you let your aunt talk you into doing something crazy! This was at a family dinner c. 1985-1986. In this photo is my son David front and center! Behind him is my son Kenny followed by my brother in law, Jim and directly behind him is my Grandpa, George K. Rueff. Kenny and David called him Great Pawpaw because my Dad is Pawpaw.

Family Photo Friday

My son Kenny, dressed as a magician for Halloween circa 1986-1987. This was taken at his Grandma Kitts's house. I would often take them trick or treating through her neighborhood after they had been through my Mom's neighborhood.

Family Photo Friday ~ George Kenneth Rueff

This is the freshman class of St Xavier All Boys Catholic High School of which my grandfather, George Kenneth Rueff was a member. Grandpa was born in 1905 so I am estimating that this picture was taken about 1919 or 1920. St. Xavier's is in Louisville, Kentucky.

Family Photo Friday ~ My Boys and Me

I am feeling a nostalgic today as my son Kenny's birthday approaches. This picture is from my sister Susie's wedding in September 1999. Both Kenny and David were groomsmen in the wedding. My Dad is in the background. This is probably one of my favorite photos of the me and my boys. Kenny would have been 35 years old this month.

Family Photo Friday ~ The Williams Family

My family starting with my sister Patty and her former husband Jim, my sister Kathy and her husband Thomas, me, my brother Billy, my Dad, my youngest sister Susie, and my Mom. Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, Louisville, KY. May 1991. From my personal collection.

Last week's family photo was the big family portrait with all of the descendents of George and Mytyle (Behrle) Rueff. After that they grouped each of the Rueff siblings with their individual families for photographs. The only ones who didn't come with us were my sons, Kenny and David. Back then I was a travel agent and I used my 2 yearly free tickets to fly my Mom and I up to Louisville with my Aunt Bonnie and Grandpa. That is a story for another post!

The motto for any Parrot Head is Party with a Purpose! We support other clubs charity events and they do the same for us.We always have a good time when we are together!

Family Photo Friday ~ A Little Early

This is a photo of my children's great grandfather, Simeon Lester Kitts, Sr. (1891-1928). He died of pneumonia at age 36, leaving a wife, Ruth and three children, Susie, Lester, Jr and Betty to mourn his loss.

This is a photo of my children's great grandmother, Ruth Hair Kitts, widow of Simeon Lester Kitts, Sr. and mother of Susie, Lester, Jr. and Betty.

These photos are copies of the originals sent to me by the only surviving child of Simeon and Ruth Kitts, their youngest daughter, Betty. I have been having a hard time putting the story of Betty's parents down on paper. Hopefully, this will help me find the words I am looking for!

Family Photo Friday ~ William Elmer Williams and Eloise Williams Rich

This is one of the few pictures I have of my grandfather, William Elmer "Billy" Williams and his sister and my great Aunt Eloise Williams Rich. Billy was born in 1910 and Eloise in 1904. I put the date on this photo at around 1911 or 1912. They are the children of William Points and Sarah Elizabeth (Lucas) Williams. I have written before of my Grandpa Billy and if you can read that post here, (http://dawninggenealogy.blogspot.com/2015/01/52-ancestors-challenge-2015-1.html). I have wonderful memories of my Great Aunt, Eloise though! She and her family will be in another post later. I loved it when we would go to visit Eloise and her husband, Dr. Albert Perrin Rich.

Family Photo Friday ~ The Descendents of George and Myrtle (Behrle) Rueff

Standing L to R: Susie, Dawn Thomas, Jim, Lisa, Patty, Billy, Ronnie, Donna, Bobby holding Jon, Jaclyn, Kristy, Michael, Jeff and Becky. Sitting L to R: My Dad, Kathy, My Mom, Ashley, Aunt Barbara, Melissa, Uncle Kenny, Matt, Aunt Bonnie, Christoper, Uncle Jim and Robin. May 1991. From my personal collection.

When my grandfather, George Rueff passed away on 19 May 1991 we knew that we would all be going to Louisville. He wanted to be buried with his beloved, Myrtle. Each of our families are standing behind our parents. For my instance, my family is on the left so my siblings, each of their spouses, and I were arranged.

I believe it was a family decision to have the pictures taken of us in one of the bigger rooms at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home on Lexington Road in Louisville. Know the efficiency of my Mom and my Aunts it was probably before the funeral. Mom doesn't remember and neither do I.

Our family has grown by leaps and bounds, since this photograph was taken in 1991
My cousins Amy, Donna, Robin and Ronnie and I have added yet another generation as our children (the great grand children) are now having their own families. As of now (grin), providing my math is right, there are fifteen (15), 2nd great children with 2 more due by the end of the year and one due next spring. This generation ranges in age from under a year to about 14 years old. My grandson, Easton is currently the second youngest in the group.

Family Photo Friday ~ My Brother Billy and our Grandfather, George K. Rueff

Happy Birthday, Billy! Billy was born the day before our grandfather, George K. Rueff's 60th birthday. So it is only fitting that today's Family Photo should be the two of them! This photograph was taken on the occasion of my Great Uncle Frank's 90th Birthday and
Family Reunion Party in October 1988 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Family Photo Friday - Mom's First Holy Communion Picture

This is my Mom's First Holy Communion picture. My Mom is on the left, her sister Bonnie is in the middle, standing behind her is my great grandfather, Dr. Raymond Alexander Behrle and on the right is her brother, Kenny. It is one of the few pictures that I have where my Mom and her siblings are all in the same picture as young kids. This picture was taken c.1944 in Louisville, Kentucky.
